Very busy, not a lot of staff but food comes out after a few minutes of ordering. I don’t recommend big groups, because its always busy😂 But everything tastes amazing, very Hong Kong styled food!

One of my favorite cha chaan teng (HK diners) in the neighborhood. The quality of ingredients and presentation is great. Reminds me of my years in HK. Come early for the breakfast specials (great value). Delicious milk tea

I came to Cha Kee to eat on a Saturday afternoon. There was no wait! If you see a line outside, it’s most likely because of the neighboring Mei Lai Wah bakery, which you can walk past and go directly to the counter inside to get seated. The restaurant interior is clean and spacious, with plenty of seating, though some tables are connected, meaning parties could be seated close together. We were seated at a private booth and quickly ordered. I had the HK-style milk tea with ice, and it was strong and tasted amazing. The hot version was also pretty good. I think the condensed milk addition really sets this drink apart from other types of milk tea, and Cha Kee used a strong tea blend, really making this drink perfect. I ate the baked spaghetti, which is my go-to at HK cafes. Meanwhile, the stir fried rice noodles with squid was also delicious and perfectly seasoned. I also enjoyed a side of the peanut butter and condensed milk toast, but I think it could use more peanut butter and condensed milk to make it taste even better. I would highly recommend Cha Kee to anyone looking for a traditional HK cafe experience.

If you miss (or dream of) the classic Hong Kong lunch spot, this is it. Located in the heart of NYC Chinatown. Its clean modern deco, and conversation able environment makes it the prefect place for a power lunch or catch up time with friends. The staff is kind and patient when you are overwhelmed with the extensive menu. Protip: take their suggestions. The menu covers Hong Kong style sandwiches and dumplings (plus more). Bonus a gorgeous bathrooms with heated toilet that made me weak in the knees. The Hong Kong tea is one to try. My understanding is at night it transforms into a Japanese restaurant. I'll have to come back for that experience.

We tried some other things here, but don’t have pictures for them. Butter with condensed milk toast was good. Fried bun with condensed milk was good. Milk teas were good. Beef chow fun was very tasty and silky. Beef chow mein was very good also. Usually don’t like chow mein too much, but their noodles were a bit on the softer side and I prefer that over the super crispy crunchy version. Didn’t like the pork chop onions on rice. It was bland. Their wings were okay. Overall, this place was way better than I expected, so I give it a solid 4.
